System requirements

For running this application, you need:

  • a Java Runtime Environment (short: JRE). Every Java application needs this, so it is likely that it is already installed on your computer and you don't have to take care about it. If you are missing a JRE on your computer, you can download it here: http://java.com/download.
This application has been developed and tested with Java 8. Therefore, Java in version 8 or higher is required to use this application.
The JRE has to support the same architecture than "Shortcut for SAP systems" was built for: 64 bit or 32 bit. We offer our product for 64 bit as well as for 32 bit.
  • the SAP Java Connector (short: SAP JCO). This is normally not installed on every computer. It can be downloaded here: https://support.sap.com/en/product/connectors.html. To get access to the download files, you need an SAP Market Place User or "SAP S User ID". In case you don't have one, your company should be able to create one, or there should be someone in your company with an S User ID who can download the files.
This tool is intended for SAP IT staff and not for SAP end users, so there should be an SAP S User ID for the target users.
You need at least these 2 files:
    - sapjco3.jar
    - sapjco3.dll
Both files have to be available with the same version (this is of course the case if you install / download the SAP JCO) and have to support the same architecture (64 bit / 32 bit) as the JRE and "Shortcut for SAP systems".
The first file "sapjco3.jar" has to be placed in the subdirectory "Sc4SAP_lib". The other file "sapjco3.dll" has to be placed either
      - in the subdirectory "Sc4SAP_lib", too
      or
      - in a directory that is included in the system path (for Windows systems the subdirectory "system32" in the Windows directory would be a suitable place).
Both files are not part of our product. They are property of SAP and are not supplied with the distribution of "Shortcut for SAP Systems".
If these files (or at least one of them) are not present, the application will not start!
  • last not least you need an accessible SAP system with an ABAP stack in your network environment, which of course is also not part of this product.
  • some functions require a SAP GUI installed on your computer. This is also a product of SAP and not part of our product.
  • a valid license for this tool which can be ordered at www.Shortcut-IT.com. For testing, you can also request a completely non-binding trial license.

With the included program "Sc4SAPStarter.exe" you can check if the prerequisites are given or which missing prerequisite prevents the start of "Shortcut for SAP systems". It also offers the possibility to search for a missing file in the accessible directories of your computer. There is a chance that the missing files already exist somewhere on your computer or on accessible drives, so give it a try.

Nothing needs to be implemented in the targeted SAP systems, so you don't have to deal with transport requests or addons. This application works with the functions that are already available in an SAP (ABAP stack) system.

When you start the program, it should look similar to this:

If there are no graphics visible (each button should have a graphic), the reason is probably due to a setting other than 100% in the "Scale and layout" settings in Windows 10.

To fix this, do the following: in the Windows Explorer, right click on "Sc4SAP.exe" > go to "Comaptibility" tab > check "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and select "Scaling performed by: System".
